The Plan

What we don't do

A little note from the boss: (No not Bruce Springsteen!)

Cruisin’ is not just the name of our site. It is a way of life. Cars have always been the reason for working! Why else would anyone slave away writing boring computer programs for people that neither know nor understand what a quality computer program might be? Oops! Back to cars.

I remember cruising 16th Street here in Denver, Colorado. And the strip down Broadway thru Englewood, and out Colfax into Lakewood. Everyone looked down on cruiser’s, but, I’ve found grownups don’t want their children to do any of the things they loved growing up. I believe that is because they remember the bad things when they think of their children out there and remember the great times when they talk with their old friends. I think everyone should have the chance to experience those times.

The Plan –

Coolest Email Address on the ‘net
Search Engine for Cars n Stuff
Personal Webpage
Race Team
How To’s

Email – This is the best part of being a cruisin.com member! The sooner you sign up the better chance you have of getting your favorite ID! Mine is rick@cruisin.com - so that is already gone – What would yours be?

Search Engine – We won’t have categories for intel or Microsoft. Why does anyone? Just type in the name. However, finding car stuff in any major search engine is a joke. We will have only sites which have something to do with our toys. And we will actually look at the sites before we add them to the database. This won’t happen overnight, but, we are already working on creating this database. It should be online sometime in the first quarter of 2000.

Personal Webpage – some of our memberships will include a simple way to create a personal webpage where you can display pictures of your toys.

 What we do NOT do!

Free Email – SPAM is a major problem on the Internet. I routinely delete hundreds of unsolicited email every week. They all say I asked for them to send it, they all have invalid return addresses, and any that indicate you can be removed from their list are misleading you. I know this because I have spent three years running an ISP and have yet to find a way to get off a list. FREE EMAIL is part of this problem. Spam fighting sometimes includes looking for valid return addresses. Now that free email is out there, spammers can get a new address every time they send out their ads and they slide thru these filters. That is one way you ‘pay’ for those free email addresses. I won’t even consider doing that.

Cruisin.com does not condone spamming and anyone that does this will have their membership revoked.

Finding Car Stuff - Wouldn’t it be exciting if you could use a search engine to actually find something you want? Well, if you are looking for cars, motorcycles, boats or other cool stuff on the Internet and use one of the search engines you find out that lots of people think that car nuts will look at anything. Sooo, everything comes up for a search for corvette, or harley, or scarab. Or search for something at Yahoo – then look and see what exciting books they have on that exact subject at Amazon – even though half the time there is NOTHING listed when you go to Amazon. Give me information – don’t lie to me! The bottom line is if you become a member you will get something for it. And I won’t give/sell your address, email or otherwise. If you just want to look at our site, then I hope you find it useful.

What we are going to build is a place to cruise the web for cars, boats, or anything which provides thrills and locomotion.

Big Brother – How often have you had to ‘register’ to look at a website? It seems everyone needs to know your address, your phone number, how many times you skipped classes in High School ,  . . .  And then they insult your intelligence by telling you that they won’t sell the information to anyone. Anybody need to buy the Brooklyn Bridge? I can make you a great deal!
